I guess that, if you've come this far, you've realised that we are very poor at updating this website.  However, if you go to Gill's blog you'll find regular updates on what she/we are up to and probably learn more about Bernina sewing machines than you really wanted to know whilst you're there!

March already?

Still feels like Winter!  With record breaking low temperatures and a gale force wind blowing outside, it was disappointing to come home from our cruise and find the weather much the same as we left it.  We were hoping for a little sign or two of Spring in the garden, but so far, the only one is the little primroses, doing their best to withstand the breeze!

We set off at the end of February for a cruise on our favourite ship – Voyager – from Hong Kong to Beijing, with some really interesting stops along the way.  Of course, all the details can be read on Gill’s blog as usual, but since she doesn’t post pictures of people in that rather public place, here’s a bonus photograph of The Six…Trivia Team extraordinaire!  Left to right:  Ellis, Mary, Ourselves, Jane and Allan.

The tree’s up, the fridge is full and the house is quiet.

Sadly, it’s pouring with rain and not the most welcoming of weather for Christmas Eve  but we are warm and dry indoors and hope you are, too.

A few days in Philly

We chose Philadelphia for our pre-Christmas break this year – though we were caught out by an unusually early Thanksgiving.

We had a great time exploring the city and loved the grand old buildings.

We love to catch the spirit of the season in an American city at this time of the year and think of it as the start of our Christmas.

It’s great to go to a concert and this year, the Philadelphia Orchestra were on tiptop form, with a superb concert of Beethoven and Wagner.  We left the Kimmel Centre on a high, for sure!

The weather was unseasonably mild and we took the opportunity to drive out into Lancaster County, to the railway museum and to do a spot of shopping at the mall.

Of course, we did a little of the heritage stuff too – here’s George Washington’s chair from the Independence Hall.

We spent our last day at the Jersey Shore, enjoying a little sea breeze and a great fish and chip lunch at the Blue Pig Tavern at Cape May.
